Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,
In the name of Jesus, Who has become man for us, so that He might bear our sins in His body on the cross, Greetings!
To you, this night, is born a child
Of Mary, chosen virgin mild;
This newborn child, of lowly birth,
Shall be the joy of all the earth.
This is the Christ, God’s Son most high
Who hears your sad and bitter cry;
He will himself your Savior be,
And from all sin will set you
free.
—"From Heaven Above to Earth I Come" by Martin Luther
The season of Christ begins with the celebration of His incarnation and birth. The story of Christmas is not a fanciful legend or a tall tale. It is TRUTH. The salvation of all men is founded upon the truth of Jesus’ incarnation. That
is why we at Issues, Etc. defend and teach such truths all year-round.
As you celebrate Jesus’ birth this year, we would remind you how much Issues, Etc. depends on your support.
Issues, Etc. is entirely supported by you!

Thanksgiving Weekend 2001
Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,
In the name of Jesus, from Whom, through Whom and to Whom are all things. Greetings!
Thanksgiving Day was made a national holiday on October 3, 1863 by President Abraham Lincoln. He ended his "Proclamation of Thanksgiving" urging the American people,
[to] fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace,
harmony, tranquility and Union.
Lincoln sought peace, harmony and tranquility for his nation.
1,800 years earlier, St. Paul wrote:
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for
everyone — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and
holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
Now, Paul sought more than temporal peace and civil order. Paul knew that there is an even greater purpose to Christian requests, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings. He continued:
This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself as a ransom for all men. (1 Timothy 2:3-6)
Issues, Etc. has that very purpose: That all men would be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. This is why we proclaim the truth of the one Mediator and Ransom for all men, Jesus. We urge you to pray that the
freedom which we enjoy to proclaim Christ crucified would continue. We also ask you to pray for
Issues, Etc.
We want you to know how much Issues, Etc. depends on your support. Issues, Etc. is entirely supported by our listeners and readers.
If you are thankful for Issues, Etc., please consider supporting us with a year-end, tax deductible gift. You may write us at:

Or to make a gift by credit card, call our resource line at 1-800-737-0172.
We thank God for the opportunity to continue Defending the Faith and Teaching the Truth of the Gospel. We pray that through the outreach of
Issues, Etc. many would come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ, the Savior of
all men.
Thanking you in advance for your prayerful support, I remain…

Reformation Day is October 31!
Are you interested in attending a Reformation Day
worship service on Sunday, October 28?
Issues,
Etc. recommends that you visit one of the congregations
which graciously sponsor our broadcast.
Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,
In the name of Jesus, through Whom God shows Himself to be just, and the One Who justifies sinners by Grace, through Faith, Greetings!
"Salvation unto us has come by God’s free grace and favor;
Good works could not avert our doom, they help and save us never.
Faith looks to Jesus Christ alone, Who did for all the world atone;
He is our one Redeemer."
Salvation unto Us Has Come! This hymn is often associated with the Reformation
— and for good reason. These words were written in the early 1520’s by Paul Speratus, a priest imprisoned for openly preaching the Scriptural
teachings of the Reformation: Grace alone, Faith alone, Christ alone and Scripture alone.
How amazing! Although Speratus was forbidden to preach this Gospel, through his hymn this Gospel has been preached for the last 480 years! How like the Apostle Paul, who tells us:
"Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God's word is not chained." (2
Timothy 2:8-9)
We at Issues, Etc. have the same love for this Gospel. We have the same focus on God’s Grace by which He justifies sinners freely, through Faith, for Jesus’ sake. We rejoice that this Gospel is not chained, but can be freely
proclaimed through Issues, Etc.
While we remember the Reformation, we remind you how much Issues, Etc. depends on your support.
Issues, Etc. is entirely supported by you, our listeners and readers. Please consider helping us with a year-end, tax
deductible gift. You may write us at:

"Since Christ has full atonement made and brought to us salvation,
Each Christian therefore may be glad and build on this foundation:
Your Grace alone, dear Lord, I plead, Your death is now my life indeed,
For you have paid my ransom."

Prayer of the Church - September
11, 2001
Dear Heavenly Father, God of peace and harmony, You would have Your children on earth live together in peace and quietness. Nevertheless, in Your wisdom You have permitted this attack of terror to be unleashed against our
nation. Watch over, we pray, all those whose lives have been impacted by this tragedy. Heal the injured, comfort those who mourn, and give patience and strength to those who must now wait to learn the fate of their loved ones.
Give endurance to all police, fire, and medical personnel as they struggle to attend to the needs of the injured. To all those involved in the investigation of these attacks, grant patience and diligence as they go about their important
work of identifying those who have brought about this great suffering. Frustrate any further attacks that may be planned, and guide the leaders of our nation so that they may act wisely in response to this crisis.
Above all, enable Your holy Church to speak Your comforting Word of peace in Jesus Christ, so that in the midst of this dying world we all may know the true source of our hope; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns
with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
