THE LOCATION: Strasbourg, enchanting capital city of the Alsace, on the Rhine River dividing France and Germany; at once ancient (with its still inhabited medieval quarter and its university founded by John Calvin) and modern (the seat of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights); only one-half hour from the Black Forest, one hour from Heidelberg, two hours from the Swiss Alps, three hours from Luxembourg, and four hours from Paris. THE PROGRAM: In 2007, the International Academy will offer the following lecture and seminar program which is taught in English by the Professors in Residence:
Each of these ten subjects will be treated by one or more of the Professors in Residence for a minimum of 4 hours (total class instruction: 45 hours). A reading list will be provided on the initial registration so as to permit background study prior to the summer session. All participants attending at least 90% (40 hrs.) of scheduled class sessions receive a Certificate of Completion from the Academy. Those registrants who wish to obtain U.S. academic credit (3 sem./4.5 quarter hrs.) will sit for a written examination on the final day of the program. On attending a second Academy program in Strasbourg (not necessarily in consecutive years), one may sit for an oral examination which, if successfully completed, leads to designation as a Fellow of the Academy (F.C.A.). Also, on attending a second Academy session in Strasbourg, one may defend a thesis on an approved apologetics topic, thereby obtaining the Academy's Diploma in Christian Apologetics (D.C.A.) or Human Rights (D.H.R.). Recipients of the Diploma with appropriate qualifications may proceed to a Doctorate (Ph.D. or Th.D.) from Trinity College and Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana. This amount covers registration, all tuition and instructional fees, lodging throughout the session, and meals. A full day's bus excursion to the Vosges mountains and the medieval villages of the Alsace on Bastille Day (July 14) is also included. This amazingly low price is possible because of the French government subsidizes bonafide foreign students as well as students who are French nationals. Through the generosity of W. Howard Hoffman, M.D., of Las Vegas, NV, USA, the "W. Howard Hoffman, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund" will provide 5 scholarships of $1,000 each to needy students to attend the 2007 International Academy Summer Study Session. An additional scholarship of $1,500 for a science educator or a student majoring in science or in science education is generously provided by Drs. Don and Mary Korte, Fellows of the Academy.
