Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,

In the name of Jesus, Who has become man for us, so that He might bear our sins in His body on the cross, Greetings!

To you, this night, is born a child
Of Mary, chosen virgin mild;
This newborn child, of lowly birth,
Shall be the joy of all the earth.
This is the Christ, God’s Son most high
Who hears your sad and bitter cry;
He will himself your Savior be,
And from all sin will set you free.

—"From Heaven Above to Earth I Come" by Martin Luther

The season of Christ begins with the celebration of His incarnation and birth. The story of Christmas is not a fanciful legend or a tall tale. It is TRUTH. The salvation of all men is founded upon the truth of Jesus’ incarnation. That is why we at Issues, Etc. defend and teach such truths all year-round.

As you celebrate Jesus’ birth this year, we would remind you how much Issues, Etc. depends on your support.

Issues, Etc. is entirely supported by you!

As this year draws to a close, please consider helping us with a year-end, tax deductible gift. You may write us at:

Thanking you in advance for your prayerful support, we remain…

Reformation Sunday —  October 29, 2000

Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,

Today, October 29, 2000 marks the fifth anniversary of the weekly national broadcast of Issues, Etc.  When we began, many pastors told us that “you can’t teach lay people theology.”  communication experts told us that the program was “too divisive and too controversial.”  However, with 96 affiliate stations nationwide, with a worldwide listening audience on the internet, and with more than 10,000 requests for the Issues, Etc. Journal Issues, Etc. is still “defending the faith and teaching the truth” of Christianity in the 21st century.  Thanks be to God in Christ Jesus!

Our mission has remained the same for the last five years.  First, we defend and teach the truths rediscovered during the Reformation: grace alone, faith alone, scripture alone on account of CHRIST alone.  Second, we challenge today’s postmodern culture with its unbiblical and illogical ideology.

How does your support of Issues, Etc. contribute to the advancement of the Great Commission?  The answer is in part documented by a small sample of comments provided by Issues, Etc. listeners and readers throughout the world.  These testimonials provide clear evidence of the diverse and worldwide outreach accomplished by the ministry of Issues, Etc. evangelism, worldwide outreach, campus outreach, prison outreach, catechesis, ecumenical outreach, and pastoral education.

When you support Issues, Etc., you are supporting a multi-faceted outreach!

We cannot overemphasize how much Issues, Etc. depends on YOU.  We depend on your generous gifts to maintain the broadcast of Issues, Etc.  If you have benefited from the outreach of Issues, Etc., please consider making a year-end, tax-deductible gift.  Checks should be made payable to Issues, Etc. and mailed to…

Issues, Etc.
P.O. Box 9360
St. Louis, MO 63117

And as always, we are as much in need of your prayers as we are your financial support.  We pledge to continue “defending the faith and teaching the truth” in the Church and for the world.

Thank you in advance for your prayerful support.  We remain…

Your Brothers in Christ,

Rev. Dr. Don Matzat
Host

Rev. Todd Wilken
Associate Host
Issues, Etc.

PS

Although we are a broadcast service of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, we receive no funding from the church body.  We are also not affiliated with, nor do we receive any funding from Lutheran Hour Ministries or from the Lutheran Laymen’s League.

Issues, Etc. Supporters and Procrastinators,

Here’s what Issues, Etc. listeners and readers around the world are saying:

  • On EVANGELISM…
  • On WORLDWIDE OUTREACH…
  • On CAMPUS OUTREACH…
  • On CATECHESIS - INSTRUCTION IN THE CHRISTIAN FAITH…
  • On ECUMENICAL OUTREACH…
  • On PASTORAL EDUCATION…
  • On QUALITY RADIO…

…and the response grows daily!

Please do not delay sending your check in support of  the Issues, Etc. ministry.  A contribution of $12 or more entitles you to a subscription to the Issues, Etc. Journal.

We need your help to support this unique worldwide apologetics and evangelism outreach.

Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,

In late July, we mailed out almost 10,000 copies of the Issues, Etc. Journal.  This latest edition features Don Matzat’s article "The Great Premillennial Hoax" and an article that I’ve written titled "The Blueprint for the Gospel?".

If you received this edition, this will be your final complimentary copy.  Future issues are available only if you subscribe (3 issues a year for $12).  A subscription form is provided on page 23 of the Journal.

In addition, future issues of the Journal will be posted on the website one year after the date of publication.  WE WILL NO LONGER BE POSTING THE JOURNAL ON THE WEBSITE IMMEDIATELY AFTER PUBLICATION.

We need to receive at least 1,800 subscriptions to continue publishing the Issues, Etc. Journal a year from now.  The future of the worldwide outreach of the Issues, Etc. Journal depends on your subscription and financial support.

Thanking you for your prayerful support, I remain

Your Brother in Jesus Christ,

Rev. Todd Wilken
Editor,
Issues, Etc. Journal

P.S.  The next issue will be mailed out in October. It will feature an article by Don "Defending the Christian Faith in an Age of Pluralism, Relativism and Postmodernism." My article is titled "Christianity and Culture: A Baby Boomer’s Perspective."  Time is running out.  Please subscribe today!

Issues, Etc Journal Gift Idea:

Call the Issues, Etc. Resource Line and give each of your favorite colleges students a subscription to the Issues, Etc. Journal

On campus students hear plenty of lectures that attack Christianity - put a resource and web site in their hands that defends the truths of Christianity.

On campus students who are searching for the truth are more likely to share and test the claims of Christianity with their friends - one copy of the Journal may provide reading material for a dormitory floor or may lead to Issues, Etc. Upcoming Program being posted on campus kiosks.

Please subscribe today and help us achieve the critical subscription goal.

Peace for the Warrior
To be a chaplain means to know the joys and sorrows, the pleasures and suffering, the courage and fears of warriors. If they are deployed to a forward position, he is deployed with them. If they face imminent attack, he faces it with them. If their lives are in danger, his life is in danger. To a chaplain who truly serves Christ, there is no being "in the rear with the gear." Where his people are, there he must be. Why? Christ must be there with them.
