Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,

In the name of Jesus, Who made satisfaction for our sins, sat down at God's right hand and has poured out on us the promised Holy Spirit, greetings.

What did the Holy Spirit do at the first Pentecost? He did just what Jesus promised He would do.

The Holy Spirit didn't bring attention to Himself. He didn't bring glory to Himself. He didn't bring glory to the disciples. The Holy Spirit put all the attention on Jesus. The Holy Spirit gave all glory to Jesus. The Holy Spirit took what belonged to Jesus - His perfect obedience, His death, His resurrection - and He gave it to sinners!

Yes, this is just what Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would do.

When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. (John 16:13-15)

The Holy Spirit has been sent to show us Jesus crucified and risen for sinners. This is the message of the Church.

Issues, Etc. proclaims Jesus Christ and Him crucified for sinners. Our message, like the message of the Church, is Christ-centered, Cross-focused.

Please consider becoming a monthly supporter of the Christ-centered, Cross-focused outreach of Issues, Etc. by joining our Issues, Etc. Reformation Club.

Dear Issues, Etc. Listener,

In the name of Jesus, Who bore our sins in his body on the tree, by Whose wounds you have been healed greetings!

Lent is the season in which God’s Word brings us face to face with our own mortality.  It is also the season in which the same Word shows us that Jesus has tasted death and mortality for us all.  The writer of Hebrews explains why:

We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone…Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death— that is, the devil —and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.  (Hebrews 2:10, 14-15)

The season of Lent is the entire Christian life packed into forty days.  It is a reminder that the Christian life is lived every day under the Cross.  It is reminder that the Christian life isn’t the Christian’s life, but Jesus’ life.  Issues, Etc. proclaims Jesus Christ and Him crucified.  Issues, Etc. puts this message front and center.  Issues, Etc. broadcasts this message to the Church and to the world.

Please consider becoming a monthly supporter of this Christ-centered and Cross-focused outreach by becoming a member of our Issues, Etc. Reformation Club.

To become a Confessor, an Apologist or a Reformer, click here to donate online.  You can also call our 24-hour automated resource line at 1-800-737-0172.
