Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,

In the name of Jesus, Who was sacrificed once to take away the sins of all and will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him — greetings.

The refrain of a well-known Advent hymn captures the simple message of the Church:

Christ has died! Christ is risen! Christ will come again!

Advent is the New Year of the Church. And the Church begins every new year with the promise of Jesus ringing in her hears: I will come again!

This promise is as sure and certain as the One Who makes it. Jesus came the first time, the virgin-born baby of Bethlehem. He was born to die — as the payment for the sins of the world — and to rise again from the dead.  This very One has promised, I will come again, and He will.

This promise of Jesus is the driving force behind what we do at Issues, Etc.  We "contend for truth in an age of anti-truth" knowing that Jesus has come and is coming again.

Our listeners are Issues, Etc.’s sole source of financial means.  We ask that you would be generous with Issues, Etc. now as a new Church-year begins and as 2002 comes to a close.

Please prayerfully consider supporting Issues, Etc. with a year-end, tax-deductible gift. You can write us at:

Issues, Etc.
P.O. Box 9360
St. Louis, MO 63117

Or you can make a donation by calling our resource line at 1-800-737-0172.

And Issues, Etc. is always in need of your prayers as well as your financial gifts.

Our pledge to you is that we will continue to be "A Voice in the Wilderness of American Evangelicalism."

Thanking you in advance for your prayerful support, I remain…

Your Brother in Christ,

Rev. Todd Wilken, Host

·         What Does It Mean To Be Lutheran Today? by Dr. Laurence White

Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.

In the name of Jesus, Who at the Cross bore God’s perfect justice for our sins, so that God might be both just and the One Who justifies those who have faith in Jesus ¾ greetings.

The Gospel reading for Reformation Sunday was from John chapter 8; in it Jesus says,

"If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free."

Jesus Himself is that Truth that sets us free.  Jesus is that Truth without which the world remains enslaved to sin and sentenced to death.  Jesus is that Truth that men must know, or perish eternally.

This is what Holy Scripture teaches.  This is what the Church believes and confesses.  This is what the Reformers of the Church believed and confessed.

This is what we at Issues, Etc. believe, teach, and confess. Believing this, we are making every hour of Issues, Etc. truly Christ-centered, with the clear message of Jesus Christ’s perfect obedience, His death on the Cross, and His resurrection from the dead.  This is the only Truth that sets men free!

On this Reformation Day, we remind you how much Issues, Etc. depends on your support.  Issues, Etc. is entirely supported by you, our listeners.  Prayerfully consider supporting Issues, Etc. with a year-end, tax-deductible gift.  You can write us at:

Issues, Etc.
P.O. Box 9360
St. Louis, MO 63117

Or you can make a credit card donation by calling our resource line at 1- 800-737-0172.

And Issues, Etc. is always in need of your prayers as well as your financial support.

We promise to continue "Defending the Faith and Teaching the Truth" of the Jesus Christ Who sets men free.

Thanking you in advance for your prayerful support, I remain…

Your Brother in Christ,

If you’re a member of a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregation, Issues, Etc. wants to hear from you. We are looking for one person in each LCMS congregation to become our official representative. Responsibilities include publicizing, promoting and monitoring the quality of the local broadcast.

Although Issues, Etc. is a broadcast service of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, we are not funded by the church body. We are also not affiliated with Lutheran Hour Ministries or the Lutheran Laymen’s League.

Grass roots, lay representation of Issues, Etc. in LCMS congregations is critical for the success of Issues, Etc.! Please contact us using one of the following options…

1.Call our automated resource line at 1-800-737-0172.
2.Email us at issuesetc@kfuo.org
3.Write us at Issues, Etc., 85 Founders Lane, St. Louis, MO 63105.
4.Fax us at (314) 725-2538.

Be sure to give us your name, mailing address and phone number and the name, city and state of your congregation.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration.

Dear Friend of Issues, Etc.,

Effective Sunday, March 17, Issues, Etc. will cut back its weekly radio broadcast from two hours to one hour.  Issues, Etc. has been broadcasting two hours each week for more than seven years.  However, it is simply cost-prohibitive to purchase airtime for two consecutive hours.  The fact is, double the airtime doesn’t mean double the audience.

Listeners on the following stations will be influenced by this reduction…

  • WGUN-Atlanta

  • KKMS-Minneapolis

  • WYLL-Chicago

  • KAPE-Cape Girardeau, MO

  • WLYV-Fort Wayne

  • WPIT-Pittsburgh

  • KLFE-Seattle

  • WEMY-Green Bay

  • KFGQ-Ames, IA

  • WEMI-Appleton

  • WLQV-Detroit

  • WGNV-Stevens Point, WI

Many of you won’t be effected by this change at all, since your local affiliate only airs one hour of Issues, Etc. each week.

We have also decided to discontinue broadcasting Issues, Etc. on KPXQ in Phoenix and KWRD in Dallas. Insufficient funding from listeners in these markets is the reason for the cancellation.

Now, although we’ll be offering only one hour of Issues, Etc. weekly on the radio, we will continue to webcast a second hour from 11 p.m.-midnight CST on the internet!  To hear this second hour webcast immediately after the weekly radio broadcast, go to our website at www.issuesetc.org and click the "Worldwide KFUO" logo.  You can listen to a second hour continuation of the radio broadcast on the internet! We will also continue to take your phone calls during that second hour.

We regret having to make these cutbacks. Please continue to support the worldwide outreach of Issues, Etc. with your prayers and your financial support.

Your Brother in Christ,
